Thinning Shears are popular amongst many hairstylists because of its unique features. These shears appear like traditional hairdressing scissors but they are different in their functionality. Thinning shears are also know as Texturizing Shears or Chunking Shears.

Thinners are mostly used to remove “bulk” from the hair without altering the hairstyle. This is the sole reason why Thinning Shears have “teeth” as opposed to “blades” and remove less hair with a single snip.

ScissorBoy shears are designed to fit your hand comfortably and ergonomically. The 14 Tooth Chunking Shear is one of the popular types of texturizing shears due to the following reasons:

  • Specially designed Hair Pockets allow you to pull the texturizers through the hair without having to open the blades and getting stuck in the hair
  • Made of the highest quality Forged Japanese Hitachi Stainless Steel with Cobalt
  • Sturdy teeth are sharp enough for slide cutting.
  • Click Adjuster Dial for quick and easy adjustment of blade tension.
  • Permanent Finger Rest that will never fall out or need to be replaced.

Thinning shears can be used on long hair, thick hair, wet hair easily. The flexibility it offers is superb and as hooked teeth separates the hair better.

Add life to a haircut with the 14 Tooth Chunking Shear! Click here to get your pair of awesome Texturizing Shears.

In a salon typically filled with things like tubes of hair color, razors, thinning shears, speciality scissors, brushes, hair dryers and the like, it might seem out of place to spot an ink gun. No, it’s not a new salon/tattoo parlor hybrid, it’s part of the permanent makeup trend that many salons and spas are embracing as a way to draw in new clients and further assist the ones they already have.

At a salon in Illinois, for example, co-owner Donna Keller is having the spa’s micropigmentation Technician Anita McGinnis touch up her eyeliner, which is included in the purchase price of this procedure It may look scary – a needle so close to your eye – but Keller says it’s not painful.

“I’m a baby, and it didn’t hurt the first time,” said Keller. “I think it depends on the person. One lady came in and said it felt like a bee sting, another lady said it tickled.” Skin is numbed first, then the procedure is carried out.

Once the touch-up is complete, the person can have two to three years of makeup-free eyeliner.

“You don’t have to put on makeup again,” said McGinnis. “If you think about how much eyeliner and lipstick costs, in the long run it saves money.” Plus, it may even offer additional perks.

“My mother came in and had this done and everyone tells her she looked 10 years younger,” said McGinnis.

Seems like we don’t see Sarah Michelle Gellar much in the headlines any more, but she’s recently had a few hairstyles that have been copy-cat worthy, like this one here. The beachy waves look great, the length looks great, the volume is just right – although we suspect the use of thinning shears! Overall it’s just a nice – and enviable! – look!

But don’t think maintaining this type of style is just a walk in the park! Here are some tips from sheknows.com

1. Long hair requires allot of maintenance, focus and commitment to achieving healthy long strands.

2.  Try to buy haircare products that are specifically meant or close enough to your hair type, texture and condition.

3. If you have a habit of putting your hands through your hair to “finger rake or finger pick” it is key to make sure your nails are trimmed to avoid snagging and damaging your hair.

4.  One of the most common hair mistakes is improper, excessive or lack of proper conditioning.

5.  Depending on how the hair is braided, bun or twisted your hair can take on different textures and waves so experiment with different formations to see what you like best.

6. Never use rubber bands on your hair, yes many did it “back then” but it is proven to be very damaging to your hair.
